Sun AM: Sunday mornings special numbers should fit the worship theme, and serve to elevate our hearts to the Lord.
Sun PM: Sunday evening openers can be more lively and energetic, and/or expressive of our devotion to and love for the Lord.
Instrumental arrangements should allow the audience to easily "sing along" with the text in their mind. Our attempt is to avoid complicated or overly artistic arrangements that obscure the melody.
From the MCBC "Non-Negotiables of Our Ministry"
4. We believe in reverent worship (Jn. 4:23-34; Heb. 12:28).
Our three weekly services have specific and varied purposes. Our Sunday morning services are elevated, not formal. Our desire is to worship God in an atmosphere that lost people in attendance will fall on their faces and worship God and declare that God is certainly among us (1 Cor. 14:24-25). Our Sunday evening services are more spontaneous, without slipping into an inappropriate casualness. Our Wednesday evening services typically involve greater congregational participation and concentrate on prayer.
Please submit all your information (lyrics, copyright, etc.) by Wednesday PM.
All information is submitted using our "MCBC Music System." For a simple explanation of how this system works, click here.
Because we live stream our services, in order for our musicians to perform vocal and instrumental numbers that use published arrangements, we must have permission from the copyright holder. When choosing an arrangement, check to see if the name of the copyright holder is on our list of authorized publishers. If so, we can stream performances of the arrangement in our services. Contact Mr. Arnold for questions about CCLI coverage.
he arrangement you want to use is copyrighted by a publisher not in the authorized list, then you can use it only if you obtain permission by writing to the copyright holder and receiving permission to stream your performance of their music in our service.
If you have an arrangement you want to use and need help determining whether you can use it, email music@mountcalvarybaptist.org and ask.
Service-Order: On Tuesday you will receive a service-order "draft" with your assigned mic-check times. Friday Shirley Pullins (church secretary) will send the "finalized" schedule.
Arrival: Plan to come to your scheduled mic check and sing or play your piece all the way through, so that audio/visual personnel can set the camera shot and practice advancing the powerpoint slides at the correct time. Please arrive five minutes before your scheduled time.
Slide Advancing: If possible, bring to the mic check an extra copy of your piece for A/V personnel to reference as they advance the slides during the check and the service.
Keep the following in mind:
Copyright law does not allow you to provide a photocopy or a digital copy for this purpose without getting permission from the copyright holder.
If you do not have an extra copy of your piece, and the arrangement is straightforward, there probably will not be an issue as long as you include clear information in the hymn text that you email to musicpowerpoints regarding the number of measures of introductions and interludes.
If the arrangement is unfamiliar or tricky enough that you are concerned about problems, and you can’t locate a copy, please get in touch with the music director as early in the week as possible to ask for help. The church is happy to purchase extra copies as needed to have on file.
Reminder: Remember to submit all your information by Wed PM of the week you will be ministering.
